Value of intended deals at CIIE reaches $72.62 billion

Despite the global market uncertainties incurred by the COVID-19 pandemic, foreign companies' confidence and interest in the Chinese market remain unchanged, with the value of intended deals reached at the third China International Import Expo increasing 2.1 percent year-on-year to come in at $72.62 billion.

The six-day CIIE, which ended on Tuesday, has received nearly 400,000 professional visitors. The total exhibition area approached 360,000 square meters, up 30,000 sq m from a year earlier.

Initial statistics show at least 411 new products, technologies or service items were first released in the Chinese mainland or the world via this year’s CIIE, much higher than the figure last year, according to Sun Chenghai, deputy director of the CIIE Bureau. Medical equipment and healthcare products exhibition area accounted for the majority 120 technology and product debuts.

The six-day 3rd CIIE closes on Nov 10, 2020, with $72.62 billion in intended deals inked.

Nearly 80 percent of the Fortune 500 companies present at this year’s exhibition have joined the CIIE for more than once. Consumer goods covered the largest 90,000 sq m of exhibition area this year.

The food and agricultural products exhibition area accommodated the most exhibitors this year, attracting 1,264 companies from 93 countries. The world’s top seven carmakers all attended the show.
